Newman Named to All-Region First Team

MILWAUKEE – Senior Ryan Newman of the MSOE baseball team was named to the All-Midwest Region First Team when the internet site announced its post-season awards Monday.

Newman is the fourth Raider named all-region over the last three seasons, including Tyler Doyle in 2016 and two more players in 2017 in Owen Burnikel and Jimmy Carrington.

Newman capped an impressive career with his best season, batting .350 with three home runs and 35 runs batted in. He started every game and lead the team with 45 runs scored and 12 doubles (tied). He was named to the All-NACC First Team for the first time and collected hits in each of the last 25 games of the season. He broke the school record for career runs scored (129) and became the second player in program history to reach 200 career hits (202). Newman finished his four-year career with a .326 batting average, seven home runs, and 82 RBIs in 159 games.

MSOE had another strong season in 2018, winning a school-record 25 games and coming within a game of its second NACC Championship game in three seasons. The Raiders won 20-plus games in each of the last three seasons and qualified for the NACC Tournament each time.
