MILWAUKEE - Junior Jason Palesse of the MSOE men's basketball team has been named to the Academic All-America Third Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America the organization announced Wednesday.
Palesse had a standout season on the court and continued his tremendous work in the classroom. He boasts a 3.94 grade point average as a mechanical engineering major.
On the court, he started all 26 games and drove the Raider offense with 12.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game. He finished third in the NACC in assists per game while his 129 assists are the seventh-most in team history. He scored in double-figures 19 times and hit the game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer against Louisiana College Dec. 29 in Texas. At the end of the season, he was named All-NACC Honorable Mention.
Palesse is the program's first Academic All-American since Austin Meier was named CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year in 2011. He is the second Academic All-American of the 2017-18 academic year (Braden Andryk, Men's Soccer Third Team) and the 30th in department history.
