ASHLAND, Wisconsin - Senior Zach Woodman made 26 saves and conceded just one goal in the MSOE hockey team's 1-0 loss to Northland Friday evening at the Bay Area Civic Center.
The Raiders (8-7-1, 4-5-0 NCHA) outshot the Lumberjacks (6-8-2, 3-5-1 NCHA) 39-27 on the night, including by a 16-4 rate in the third period, but could not solve Northland goalie A.J. Smith.
The home team tallied the game's lone goal just after the midway point of the second period with an even-strength score from Petter Bülling lighting the lamp at 10:15 of the frame.
MSOE pushed for the equalizer, dominating possession in the third period and even playing the final 1:17 with an empty net to get an extra skater on the ice.
Woodman put together a solid showing in goal, lowering his season goals against average to 1.73 and increasing his save percentage to .943 on the year despite the loss.
The Raiders will look to regain their winning ways on the second half of the road trip at St. Scholastica Saturday.
