ANGOLA, Indiana – Freshman Brandon Turer scored a goal to pull the MSOE hockey team to with 2-1 but that was as close as it would get in falling to Trine 4-1 Saturday at Thunder Ice Arena.
The Raiders (6-10-3, 4-5-2 NCHA) fell behind the Thunder (8-9-2, 4-7-1 NCHA) 2-0 but were unable to capitalize on Turer's goal to find the equalizer.
The hosts struck for the game's opener with just under five minutes remaining in the first period and doubled their advantage 3:37 into the second period.
Unfortunately, Trine made it 3-1 just 25 seconds into the third period to break any momentum MSOE may have had. The Thunder put in an empty-net goal at 18:06 to secure the win.
Sophomore Rock Boynton made 17 saves for the Red & White.
The Raiders held a slight 22-21 shot advantage but finished 0-for-6 on power plays. Trine was 1-for-5.
MSOE returns to the ice Friday when it hosts Lake Forest.
