Lacrosse Rolls Past Monmouth 14-5

MILWAUKEE – Freshman Collin Fisher had four goals and junior Clay Gustafson scored three as the MSOE lacrosse team defeated Monmouth 14-5 Saturday afternoon at Viets Field.

The Raiders (3-5, 2-1 MLC) led 6-0 after one quarter and never looked back in their first-ever meeting with the Fighting Scots (2-8, 1-3 MLC).

Fisher netted a hat trick inside the first seven minutes of the game, as his third goal came with 8:00 to play in the opening quarter and made it 5-0. Three other players scored multiple goals for MSOE, as juniors Oliver Kennedy, Oliver Winsor, and freshman Harrison Davies each scored twice.

Three of Monmouth's five goals in the match were scored by Thomas Van alstine.

After the Raiders jumped out to a 6-0 lead, the teams' traded goals back-and-forth in the second half and MSOE went into halftime leading 8-2. The team then outscored the visitors 3-1 in the third quarter and 3-2 in the fourth. Winsor capped the game's scoring with 6:57 to play in the game.

Junior Pat Collins played the first three quarters and made seven saves for the win. Freshman Colin Hall played the final 15 minutes of the game. Ryan Mountain made 15 saves for the Fighting Scots.

MSOE dominated many areas of the game, outshooting Monmouth, 49-18, collecting 15 more ground balls (34-19), and freshman Brett Laffey won 19-of-23 face-offs in the match.

The Raiders returns to action Wednesday, hosting Concordia Chicago at 7 p.m.
