Lacrosse Picked Fourth in MLC Preseason Poll

MILWAUKEE – The MSOE lacrosse team has been picked to finish fourth in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference preseason coaches poll, the league office announced Monday.

The Raiders are coming off a historic season in 2017 in which they went 5-3 to take fourth place in the MLC and qualify for their first league tournament. They garnered 53 points in the poll, edging Benedictine by one point (52) for that last predicted tourney spot.

MSOE did not lose a senior to graduation last season, returning five all-conference honorees, led by senior Oliver Winsor, a second-team honoree. Seniors Clay Gustafson and Pat Collins and sophomores Jacob Killian and Brett Laffey each earned honorable mention honors.

Gustafson returns as the program's all-time leader in career goals (104), assists (63), and points (167). All told, three of the program's four all-time leading scorers return with senior Thomas Reid (98 points) and Winsor (96) nearing the 100-point mark.

The Raiders are scheduled to open the season at home against Hope on Feb. 17.
