Lacrosse Picked Fourth in MLC Preseason Poll

MILWAUKEE – The MSOE lacrosse team has been picked fourth in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference preseason poll, the league office announced Monday.

The Raiders, who finished fifth last season, picked up 94 points and one first-place vote in the poll. That figure is just five points back of Benedictine in third and 21 points ahead of fifth-place Beloit.

Concordia Wisconsin topped the voting with 115 points and six first-place votes to edge second-place Aurora with 113 points and five top votes.

MSOE won a school-record 12 games last season and finished 5-4 in MLC play. The Raiders made their lone MLC Tournament appearance in 2017 when they took fourth in the league at 5-3.

Head coach Sean Farrell returns two 30-point scorers to his lineup, led by Collin Fischer. Fischer, who tallied a school-record 43 goals last season, is already one of the top-scoring players in program history with 73 career goals and 95 points in just two seasons.

Juniors Jacob Killian, Max Marquette, and sophomore Jacob Boynewicz lead the defensive returners. Killian was named to the All-MLC Second Team last season when he led the team with 42 caused turnovers. Marquette was an All-MLC Honorable Mention selection at LSM and Boynewicz caused 27 turnovers to go with 60 ground balls.

MSOE opens the 2018 season Feb. 23 against Northland.
