ST. LOUIS - Eventually the floodgates had to open. Jack Fisher (Ann Arbor, Mich./Skyline), Zach Rau (DeForest, Wis./DeForest Area), and Collin Fischer (Lake in the Hills, Ill./Huntley) each had three goals, and the Raiders took 53 total shots, as MSOE trounced Fontbonne for their first win of the season on Saturday afternoon in eastern Missouri.

HOW IT HAPPENED
MSOE (1-4, 1-1 MLC) came into yesterday's game lacking a sense of identity on offense this season. The team has often stretched the field too much, made passes when they shouldn't have, and haven't been setting up a scoring attack that couldn't be relied on to score goals on a consistent basis. That all changed against Fontbonne (0-4, 0-1 MLC) however.
The Red & White put up 13 goals in the first half, easily putting the game out of reach for the Griffins in the first quarter alone. Fontbonne scored the initial goal of the game less than two and a half minutes in, but the Raiders answered back with 11 straight.
The second half featured Sean Farrell emptying his bench, as 23 of his players saw game action throughout the afternoon. While the pace of scoring slowed down, the Raiders still outscored their opponent 5-2 in the last 30 minutes of play, giving us a final score of 18-4. The good guys lead in almost every team category, including face offs won (21-3), shots (53-14), and ground balls (35-13).
The Raiders were also disciplined throughout the contest, something they failed to do against Augustana last Wednesday. MSOE was only charged for one penalty throughout the duration, with Fontbonne racking up three minutes of penalty time compared to just one for the Red & White.
TEAM STAT OF THE GAME
The contest was the first time this season that the Red & White breached double digits in a single game. In their four previous contests, the Raiders scored a combined total 26 goals, while they put a number that is almost two-thirds of that against the Griffins in St. Louis.

WHO'S ON DECK?
As long as the weather holds, the Raiders will be playing on their home turf for the first time this season come Saturday afternoon. That is when they will be welcoming the Scots of Monmouth to Viets Field for a 1:00pm faceoff in MLC play.
