MILWAUKEE – The MSOE men's track & field team picked up wins over Wisconsin Lutheran and UW-Parkside in dual-meet scoring Saturday afternoon at the UWM Panther Tune-Up.
The Raiders scored a 65-46 win over league-foe WLC and outscored UWP 61-32.
MSOE's milers highlighted the day, as four runners were among the top 10. Senior Austin Wright led the contingent in second place with a time of 4:23.85. He edged junior teammate Trey Horbinski in third place with a time of 4:25.85. Freshman Nick Bath placed ninth with a time of 4:35.40 and junior Tripp Horbinski was 10th in 4:38.45.
Senior Jordan Luce and sophomore McCoy Swanson each posted a pair of top-10 finishes. Luce was fourth in the high jump with a final height of 5-9 3/4 and he leapt 40-4 3/4 in the triple jump for eighth. Senior Michael Van Alstyne was the top Red & White finisher in the triple jump, taking third with a distance of 42-8.
Swanson, meanwhile, ran fifth in the 200m with a time of 24.58 and had a leap of 18-9 place him 10th in the long jump.
Three Raiders also placed in the top 10 of the shot put while the team had two more finish together in the 400m. In the throwing event, freshman Derek Schrimpf led the way with a toss of 36-3 for seventh place. Freshman Brandon DeMille was eighth at 35-5 3/4 and another rookie, Nathaniel Barry, was 10th with a distance of 32-0.
In the 400m, junior Collin Rink crossed the line in 56.30 for seventh place. Junior Devon Searfosss was ninth in 57.88.
Freshman Ben Giese rounded out the squad's top-10 finishes with a sixth-place showing in the 60m hurdles. He finished the distance in 9.35.
The UWM Panther Tune-Up was the final meet for the Raiders before the 2017 NACC Indoor Championships next Saturday in Kenosha.
