Future Thinking Raiders Perform at Eagles Invite

LISLE, Ill. – MSOE men's track and field went into this weekend's Benedictine Eagles Relay with one goal. Experiment and see what works. While the overall results on paper were not much to look at, head coach Bill Massoels' strategy will pay dividends come the end of the season at the conference championships.

TOP TRACK PERFORMER
Freshman Nolan Kozinski (River Hills, Wis. / Marquette) paced himself to two top ten finished this weekend. Kozinski finished eighth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:10.91. He did even better when it came to the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Kozinski placed fourth in that event with a speed of 9:57.98, just three seconds off a top three finish.

TOP FIELD PERFORMER  
In the field events, no one was better at the invitational for the Raiders than Hayden Heun (Port Washington, Wis. / University School). The 6-1 sophomore was the only MSOE field student-athlete with a pair of top 15 finishes. Heun came in fourth with a distance of 45.69 meters in the hammer throw, earning the team four points. He would later wrap up the meet with a 14th place showing in the discus throw with a mark of 37.09 meters

Miroslav Stojanovic (West Allis, Wis. / Hale) – 9th in javelin throw
Jack O'Sullivan (Sugar Grove, Ill. / Kaneland) – T-11th in pole vault
Eduardo Diaz (Crystal Lake, Ill. / Crystal Lake) – T-11th in pole vault
Jesse Lambrecht (Appleton Wis. / Kimberly) – 11th in 5,000 meter run
Blake Bostwick (Whitefish Bay, Wis. / Whitefish Bay) – 12th in 5,000 meter run
McCoy Swanson (South Milwaukee, Wis. / South Milwaukee) – 12th in 400 meter dash
Alex Moran (Lindehnurst, Ill. / Grayslake North) – 12th in high jump
Joe Jurss (Cedarburg, Wis. / Milwaukee Lutheran) – 13th in 110 meter hurdles

WHAT'S NEXT
The men will look forward to this Thursday when they are set to compete at the St. Norbert Twilight.
