MILWAUKEE – The MSOE rowing team kicked off the 2018-18 season at the Milwaukee River Challenge Saturday on the Milwaukee and Menomonee Rivers.
The Raiders saw their 'A' boat in the Open 8 take third before posting a fourth-place finish in a thrilling Open 4 race.
In the Open 8, the 'A' boat repeated its third-place showing of a year ago, posting a time of 16:44.777. The 'B' entry was ninth in the 10-boat field with a time of 18:22.679.
The regatta saw four boats finish within nine seconds at the finish of the Open 4, with the Red & White rowing in a contingent of three boats separated by less than a half second. The Raiders posted a time of 18:19.125, which was less than nine seconds behind Purdue's 'A' crew's winning pace. The Lincoln Park Boat Club was second at 18:18.782, just 0.433 seconds up on fourth-place MSOE.
The Raiders return to action Oct. 7 at the Tail of the Fox Regatta.
