MILWAUKEE – The MSOE rowing team placed second in the Open 4, just two seconds off the lead pace of Minnesota, to highlight the competition at the Rivers of Milwaukee Regatta Sunday on the Milwaukee and Menomonee Rivers.
The Raiders added the home regatta to their schedule after the Head of the Rock was canceled. The event drew collegiate crews from the aforementioned Gophers, Northwestern, Marquette, University of Chicago, Illinois, and St. Norbert.
In the Open 4, MSOE's 'A' boat of Jonah Meffert, Noah Shellans, Nick Losch, Ryan Boatright, and coxswain Francis Sena covered the 5000m course in 18:14 for second place in the event. UM finished in 18:12 to take the top spot.
Meanwhile, a second Minnesota crew was third in 18:22, followed by Chicago in 18:43 among the college entries.
The Red & White sent a second lineup through the race, placing 12th overall, and the ninth college squad in 19:51. That boat was Jake Schilling, Jack Nicholaisen, Grant Oberfoell, and Soren Chapman-Aldridge.
