MILWAUKEE – Junior Emily Snow and freshman Lorrin Pondo of the MSOE softball team each received weekly honors from the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference when the league office announced its awards late Monday.
Snow was named the NACC Player of the Week and Pondo the NACC Pitcher of the Week for March 5.
Snow batted .455 with a .514 on-base percentage and .848 slugging percentage in 10 games last week in Florida. She went 15-for-33 at the plate with 10 doubles, 10 runs scored and 11 RBIs. She also hit a home run, walked four times, and stole a pair of bases. The reigning NACC Player of the Year collected a hit in each of the last nine games and reached base safely in all 10 to extend a streak of games in which she reached safely to 47-straight.
Pondo pitched in 9-of-10 games for the Raiders, going 5-3 with a save and five complete games in five starts. She posted a 1.62 ERA with 42 strikeouts in 43.2 innings of work. Pondo hurled a no-hitter against Houghton in her second collegiate start, striking out 10 and walking just one. She added a three-hit shutout of Capital with five strikeouts and no walks.
The Raiders got the season off to a 7-3 start and now are off until March 24 when they play two games at Carthage.
