The MSOE softball team wrapped up their season last week, and although the results weren't what they had hoped for at the NCAA regionals, there was still bright spots to come out of the tournament. The performances of Emma Megal (Elm Grove, Wis. / Brookfield East), Kim White (Plainfield, Ill. / South), and Emily Wiederholt (Cuba City, Wis. / Cuba City) were memorable enough to be named to the NCAA Softball Illinois Wesleyan Regional All-Tournament Team.
Megal only had six official plate appearances on the weekend, hitting .500 (3 for 6), but that was only half of the story. Her at-bat totals were deceiving because she drew a total of four walks in three games played. Megal also crossed home plate twice and had one RBI.
White went 5 for 10 (.500) in three games against Calvin College and Illinois Wesleyan. The third baseman was the Raider who busted game one wide open with a grand slam in the six run first inning against Calvin on Thursday. On the weekend, White scored two runs, hit a total of two homers, knocked in five, and drew one walk.
Wiederholt was the only Red & White pitcher to make the post tournament team, but her performance certainly warranted it. The junior hurler pitched 12.2 innings, striking out 11 total batters. She gave up 13 hits, but only surrendered four earned runs all weekend.
