RIVER FOREST, Illinois – The MSOE women's basketball team had a cold night shooting in falling to Concordia Chicago 73-56 in its NACC opener Monday evening at Geiseman Gymnasium.
The Raiders (1-1, 0-1 NACC) shot 31.4 percent for the game in falling behind the Cougars (1-0, 1-0 NACC) early, but were unable to catch up in the end.
Senior Holly Denfeld posted her second-straight double-double to open the season with 14 points and 12 rebounds. She was limited to just eight shot attempts in the game but made seven. Senior Lizzy Hilby finished with 11 points and two blocked shots.
Lauren Orr scored a game-high 24 points for Concordia Chicago. Taylor Jacobsen added 14 points and Crystal Corr chipped in 15 points off the bench.
While MSOE struggled with its shooting touch, CUC suffered from no such affliction by hitting on 48.4 percent from the field.
The Cougars jumped ahead early and led 37-19 by halftime. The Red & White caught fire in the third quarter, shooting 52.8 percent to outscore CUC 23-17 and pull within 54-42. Unfortunately, that was as close as the team would get on the night.
The Raiders have off for Thanksgiving, returning to action Saturday at Wisconsin Lutheran.
