Women’s Basketball Falls to Host UT-Dallas

RICHARDSON, Texas – Senior Holly Denfeld posted a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds, but it was not enough as the MSOE women's basketball team fell to UT-Dallas 75-41 in its second contest at the UT-Dallas Classic Saturday afternoon at the UTD Athletic Center.

The Raiders (6-4) fell into a 21-9 hole after one quarter and could not recover against the host Comets (9-2).

Denfeld was MSOE's lone double-digit scorer as senior Margaret Pugh scored seven points. Senior Lizzy Hilby and sophomore Jamie Spanbauer scored six points each.

Kayla Reinhart led UTD with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Alyssa Crockett chipped in with 12 points, as did Victoria Pena off the bench.

After a lengthy time away from the court heading into the tournament, the Raiders struggled to shake off the rust. They ended up shooting 30.6 percent from the field. They fared better from three-point range with a 38.5 percent clip (5-for-13), but went just 6-for-16 at the free throw line. The Comets finished the game shooting 46.2 percent and hitting on 7-of-16 from deep.

MSOE will look to return to its winning ways when it's back in action Tuesday, hosting Concordia Wisconsin.
