DECATUR, Illinois – Junior Kayla Barreto scored a career-high 23 points to lead the MSOE women's basketball team in action Wednesday night, a 78-61 loss to Millikin at the Griswold Center.

Barreto shot 8-of-17 from the field, taking the lead on offense in the absence of the team's leading scorer in Jamie Spanbauer (DNP-class). Barreto made all six of her free throw attempts and led the team with five rebounds and four assists, as well. Sophomore Amy Reiser finished with eight points and four steals in the game.
Junior Brooke Scott added a season-best seven points in 11 minutes, her most action of 2018-19 after suffering a season-ending injury last season.

The Red & White was able to take a sizable bite out of the Big Blue's lead in the fourth quarter, shooting nearly 53 percent in the period while limiting Millikin to just 4-of-16 against the starting lineup for the majority of the quarter. Barreto scored 10 points in the frame as MSOE pulled as close as 16 points after a 17-2 run made it 71-55 with 3:22 to play.
