GREEN BAY, Wis. - The MSOE Raiders women's tennis team was back at it this afternoon, hitting the courts for the first time since mid-October. After closing out the fall slate with three straight wins, the Red & White looked to keep the streak alive. Unfortunately, St. Norbert had other ideas. The Green Knights dominated the courts, taking the match 7-2 at Four Seasons Tennis Club in Green Bay.
MSOE (7-10, 6-4 NACC) locked down a victory in both singles and doubles this afternoon, but couldn't get anything going otherwise. In pairs action, St. Norbert (10-7, 3-3 MC) won the No. 1 and No. 3 matches by the score of 8-5 and 8-2, while the pair of Katie Clements (La Crosse, Wis./Aquinas) and Hannah Marron (Downers Grove, Ill./North) were able to turn the tables with an 8-3 victory in the No. 2 spot.
The only Raider win in singles play was in match No. 1, where Sammy Soeder (Waterford, Wis./Waterford Union) defeated opponent Lauren Paulson by the score of 6-4, 6-2. All but one match was settled in two games, with the No. 4 singles battle between Cierra Smith (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) and Anja Jacobsen going the distance. Smith lead after the first set 7-6 victory but dropped the two that followed 6-1 and 1-0.
With the rust shaken off, the Red & White will look for a better result next weekend, when they travel to Racine, Wis. to go up against Carthage at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 16th.
