The match got off to a tight start, with a hotly-contested opening set. Save for an early 6-2 MSOE lead, the teams were within two points for the bulk of the frame. A late 3-0 Raider run put them in the driver's seat at 24-23 but the teams alternated points until the home team finally went back-to-back to claim the opener.
In the second game, the Red & White fell into an early hole at 11-7 before rattling off seven-straight points for a 14-11 advantage. The Inferno did not go away, hanging close and taking a late lead at 22-21. The score was 23-22 in favor of the visitors when MSOE scored the final three points of the set.
The Raiders utilized five-straight points in the middle of the final game to break a 12-12 tie. They played from ahead for the rest of the way, with their lead peaking nine points at 24-15 thanks to a late 5-0 run.
MSOE was hitting well over .200 over the first two sets but finished with a .094 clip in the third set. Conversely, the defense stepped up and limited the Inferno to just -.167 attacking in the final game as the visitors finished at .059 for the night.
The Raiders return to the court Friday, hosting Wisconsin Lutheran.
