MILWAUKEE – If you're going to start scoring goals, then the start of conference play is probably the right time to do it. Joey Schauer had two goals and the team took 20 shots as the Raiders blew by the Muskies of Lakeland this evening at Viets Field.
Lakeland – 0
MSOE – 3
HOW IT HAPPENED
Joey Schauer was all over the field for MSOE (3-3-1, 1-0 NACC) this evening. The junior kicked things off when he broke the Raiders 288-minute scoreless skid with a tally from the top of the goalbox that soared over Lakeland's (3-6-1, 0-1 NACC) keeper. That shot was his first of three that would be on goal, but not the last to find the back of the twine. After the rest of the first half went by without another score, Schauer once again put the biscuit in the basket with an incredible bad angle shot that found its way into the righthand corner of the net from the left side goal line.
Schauer would account for seven of the Red & White's 20 shots on the evening, as the Raiders defense did their part by limiting the Muskies to just six. All three of Lakeland's shots on goal were stopped by the duo of Patrick Grund and Sam Paxton, and Lucas D'Amato wrapped up the action with a unassisted goal at the 78' mark to seal the deal on the first NACC win of 2019.
- All or nothing: In all six games where there has been a definitive winner this season, the Raiders have either been shutout or have shutout their opponent.
- Taking the bait: Lakeland doesn't have much luck in the series against the Raiders. The Muskies are now 2-12 all-time against MSOE
