Raiders Open Fall Season At NACC Invitational

MEQUON, Wis. – The MSOE men's tennis team started its brief slate of fall contests this past Sunday at the NACC Fall Invitational. The doubles tournament format gave the Red & White a chance to see how they measure up against their competition at this point in the "preseason." Though they didn't come away with the big win in either draw, the Raiders turned in positive results heading into their two remaining events.

DRAW ONE
The higher-level draw featured two different pairs of Raiders teammates. Unfortunately, neither team was able to come away with a finals victory, but both did make it to the final round in each bracket.

Round One

Alec Dam/Joshua Fay fall to Binversie/Werning (CUW) 3-8
Luke Nelson/David Chon DEFEAT Andrekus/Crump (SNC) 8-1

Winners Bracket

Semifinals – Nelson/Chon DEFEAT Binversie/Werning (CUW) 8-5
Finals – Nelson/Chon fall to Rademacher/Snyder (CUW) 4-8

Losers Bracket

Semifinals – Dam/Fay DEFEAT Andrekus/Crump (SNC) 8-2
Finals – Dam/Fay fall to Raskin/Klement (CUW) 3-8

DRAW TWO
The second draw consisted of three different MSOE pairs. While the Red & White came away with a losers bracket victory, two Raider doubles teams had to go up against each other in the semifinals of the winners bracket, lessening their chances of winning the draw.

Round One

Ben Steves/Peter Gudopp fall to Ebben/Erickson (EC) 7-8
Ryan Emerich/Parker Kuhlman DEFEAT Mulius/Brown (SNC) 8-2
Michael Emerich/Nate Chapman DEFEAT Belifuss/Stanaszak (SNC) 8-6

Winners Bracket

Semifinals – Emerich/Chapman DEFEAT Emerich/Kuhlman 8-6
Finals – Emerich/Chapman fall to Peters/Rehrauer (CUW) 3-8
Consolation - Emerich/Kuhlman fall to Ebben/Erickson (EC) 5-8

Losers Bracket

Finals – Steves/Gudopp DEFEAT Beilfuss/Stanaszak (SNC) 8-6

WHAT'S NEXT
The Raiders will hit the courts next in another doubles event, this one hosted by Lake Forest this Sunday.
