MILWAUKEE – When two of the best teams in the conference go head to head, everyone knows it's going to be a game where the smallest mistake might cost you the match. And while the Raiders didn't have any glaring miscues, the Dominican offense applied intense pressure at times that contributed to the MSOE 3-1 loss on Wednesday night.
Dominican – 3
MSOE – 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
The game this evening seemed to move at breakneck speed, with both MSOE (6-4-2, 3-1-1 NACC) and Dominican (10-1-0, 5-0-0 NACC) trying to be the first one to score. The Raiders would obtain that honor when Jeray Riffel set up Brooke Zidek on what would be the only Red & White goal at 12:37 in the first half. Neither team would score for the rest of the frame, giving the Raiders a delicate 1-0 lead heading into the second period. The Stars came out of the 15-minute intermission with an intent to score and score quickly at that. They accomplished that goal when they knocked the ball past Abbie Lorenz less than two minutes into the second half, and just after two back to back shots hit the crossbar and bounced back out. Dominican would take advantage of a Lorenz bobble on an attempted save less than ten minutes later and would ice the game with another goal with just under three minutes left to play. The shots and shots on goal totals don't tell the story of how intense the game actually was, but in the end it was Dominican that came away as winners at Viets Field.
- Tonight's defeat marks the fourth straight loss to the Stars. In those contests, the Raiders have been outscored 10-2.
- Jeray Riffel now has six assists on the season and is just two away from entering the top ten in the single season record books. She is currently tied for seventh in career assists all-time.
- Brooke Zidek has scored twice and assisted on another this season. The five points she has earned this year matches her offensive output from the 2018 season.
WHO'S ON DECK
