MILWAUKEE – With their game against Alverno postponed last Friday, the MSOE women's soccer team found themselves heading onto the pitch tonight having gone seven days without seeing competitive action. There was no rust from the Raiders however as they went on to shutout Marian 2-0 at Viets Field.

MSOE – 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
Games become a whole lot easier when you set the pace right away. That is what MSOE (7-4-2, 4-1-1 NACC) did this evening, scoring almost immediately after kickoff. Brooke Zidek netted the first goal of the evening off a nicely placed setup pass from Caitie LeVasseur at 2:12 to put the Red & White up 1-0. LeVasseur would find the scoresheet again 28-minutes later, but this time on the scoring end. LeVasseur buried a Jeray Riffel pass to score her seventh goal of the season to put Marian (5-9, 3-5) down by a pair.
The Raiders defense also did their job tonight, taking an efficient offense and shutting them down. The Sabres came into the game averaging just over two and a half goals per game, as well as tallying 20 shots over the course of a contest this season. MSOE not only shut them out, they also limited Marian to just eight shots. Abbie Lorenz stopped five of them and earned her second shutout of the season with a 2-0 victory on Wednesday night.
- Currently with seven assists, Jeray Riffel is just one away from breaking into the single season record books.
- This is the first time the Raiders have shutout the Sabres since October 17, 2016.
- MSOE is now 7-3 against Marian in their last ten contests between the two teams.
WHO'S ON DECK
