HOW IT HAPPENED
Early season weekends like the ones MSOE (4-7) have been participating in are best used as learning experiences for the conference season, and this young Raiders team is learning quickly. While they went down in straight sets against both Carroll and St. Mary's (Minn.), they showed progress in their two other contests.
Battling has been one thing the Red & White have excelled in with five set matches. The match against Beloit was their fourth of the season, and while head coach Tom Wood probably would prefer not to have to endure the stress of these contests, the Raiders have been successful in three of the four attempts.
Even in their three set losses, the Raiders are showing growth. Except the one anomaly against Saint Mary's in the second set, the Raiders stayed right with their opponents. With the scores in these defeats getting closer and closer, it's only a matter of time before the Raiders start seeing these battles swing in their favor.
Quinn Borchert was honored with her second all-tournament team selection of the season. Her first accolade came in the UW-Whitewater Invitational back on August 30-31st.
WHO'S ON DECK
