MILWAUKEE – Unfortunately, the Raiders of MSOE have been regulated to the part of spoilers as the 2019 season winds down, but they played that role very well tonight. Even though they weren't able to do any damage against Aurora, they gave them plenty of fits during their 3-0 loss inside Hotchkin Arena.
Aurora – 3
MSOE – 0
HOW IT HAPPENED
MSOE (7-17, 2-6 NACC) brought the fight to second place Aurora (16-8, 7-1) this evening and were a threat to the Spartans in every set but the first. The Raiders shot themselves in the foot during that frame, committing ten errors and hitting -.105. They didn't let that deter them however, as they coughed up just eight errors the rest of the way. The Red & White hit .308 in the second set and only lost by four, but it wasn't enough against the powerful Spartan offense tonight. Aurora had at least 12 kills in each set and hit .276 as a team. AU had seven more aces in the second MSOE loss even though the Raiders only committed two errors. Kills were about dead even in the third with Aurora having the slight 16-15 advantaged, and the Raiders might have even won the set, but six errors led to a .250 hitting percentage compared to Aurora's .433. MSOE battled until the very end but still fell in straight sets for the fourth time in their last six games.
- The team effort was there tonight, as all but one Raider registered a kill. The same could be said of digs in tonight's contest as well.
- Senior Allie Laurent is just 64 assists away from breaking into the top ten in career assists with seven games remaining
